Yamaha YZF-R description

This tastefully custom 2003 Yamaha R1 has only 6,400 miles. The R1 was the fastest production sportbike in 2003. It has been garaged every winter. It has no known mechanical issues. The battery is brand new this summer. The top quality Michelin Pilot tires have less than 1,500 miles on them. It has an eye catching silver/matte black paint design with some custom touches including a Zero Gravity windscreen, racing mirrors, aftermarket exhaust, flush mount turn signals, and a triboseat rear seat cover. I will also throw in the Nelson Rigg sport-cloth saddle bags (easily removed in seconds), light and heavy duty motorcycle covers, removeable rear seat fairing, size large Icon Domain helmet, medium HJC helmet in fair condition, mesh cargo netting, front and rear wheel stands (makes changing oil easier and can be used for winter storage to keep tires off the ground and avoid creating flat spots), Joe Rocket size large black ballistic nylon jacket in great shape, Haynes repair manual, a wheel lock (not installed) and a large combination-locking caribiner clip for locking helmets, backpacks, etc.

The previous owner dropped the bike but all repairs were cosmetic and I have receipts and pictures of all work. Only a few scratches remain. For detailed photos of the entire repair job, first type in your address bar:  http://      then follow it with:   s1295.photobucket.com/user/spectrumsneverending82/library/R1

I'm an airline pilot and hobbyist mechanic and I know this bike to ride smooth and true. This is the smoothest/fastest motorcycle I've ever ridden and it has no known mechanical issues.  Bike is currently registered, inspected, and ridden on weekends.

Teaser: 2012 Japanese Literbike Shootout – Video

Thu, 29 Mar 2012

The last time we assembled the superbike offerings from the Big Four Japanese manufacturers to determine the alpha male model was 2009. The CBR won that confrontation, but a lot’s changed since then. For 2012 Honda revamped the CBR1000RR, Yamaha added traction control to the R1, the GSX-R1000 lost a muffler and last year Kawasaki introduced an all-new ZX-10R.

Brammo Earns Seventh Place Against Gas Bikes

Mon, 06 May 2013

This past weekend, Brammo arrived to Sonoma Raceway in Central California ready to do battle. Only this time the electric sportbike manufacturer would be trading blows not with other electric bikes, but with their ICE counterparts at the second round of the American Federation of Motorcyclists series — one of the oldest club racing organizations in the country. We recently mentioned Brammo’s eligibility with AFM, and this weekend was the first outing. Team Icon Brammo and its two riders Eric Bostrom and Steve Atlas competed on the Empulse RR machines while third rider, Shelina Moreda, rode the Team Parker Brammo Empulse TTX — a modified version of the road-legal Empulse.

Day 9 Dakar 2014: Coma Wins, Increases Overall Lead

Tue, 14 Jan 2014

The ninth stage took the field to the northernmost point of this year’s Dakar. The riders descended from yesterday’s plateau through the Atacama desert towards the Pacific Ocean. Sand and dunes challenged the athletes especially in the final third of the stage, demanding excellent navigation skills.
