Yamaha YZF-R description

For sale is a 2004 Yamaha YZF-R1. This is the most mechanically sound motorcycle I have owned in over Thirty Years! Let me describe Some of the work I have had professionally done to this Monster! It has an up/under the tail Micron Exhaust ($1500). Power Commander III. Rear fender eliminator kit. Hidden signals in the rear brake light and in the front side fairings. Custom Blue/black seat cover w/ R1 engraved into them.(front and passenger seat). Custom shims in steering damper and rear suspension. Blue headlight covers. Blue wheel stripe kit(for looks only). I also have new grips, carbon fiber  handle bar ends(not on) along with many more modifications. The bike was dropped while being loaded for transportation. I replaced every single body panel. I am also including a complete Factory replacement body kit.($2000 VALUE). All it needs is sanded, primed and painted to your specifications. Another issue is the crankcase cover has some blemishes. That is why I am including a brand new Factory Replacement. The last issue is two (2) scratches on the gas tank. They are one to two inches long. They are not very deep and I have protected them. The tank is a two piece tank. The second piece is perfect plus I am including a Brand New replacement plastic section. All of the service has been done. This bike has been babied. I am forty-five. It has always had mobile One fluids as well as chain lube etc. Garage kept. I live in Southwest Virginia which means you are lucky to ride three months out of the year! I am willing to crate bike for transport along with all extra part and accessories. Anything to make this a smooth and enjoyable transaction. BUYER RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL SHIPPING COSTS!!!

UShip generally charges around $400 to ship a crated Motorcycle anywhere within the continental United States. This is pretty close to a general estimate.

I am also including a front and rear set of tire lifts (red). They are used to move the bike around garage/paddock/track/maintenance/brake/chain tightening, etc.   PLUS A front and rear set of Brand New Brake Pad. The ones on the bike have 1000s of miles still left on them.

I have described this to the best of my ability. I am not a mechanic. I am no way certified in automobiles or motorcycles. All the information is given to the best of my knowledge.

l have a rear seat cowl also it is brand new. I will include it. (Needs pad). I have added Carbon Fiber mirrors. Factory are being sent also. Chrome brake fluid covers.(stock included). Factory YAMAHA STICKERS! TOO MANY EXTRAS !!!

Suzuka Eight Hour capers

Mon, 05 Sep 2011

Chatting to TT legend John McGuiness recently about his first Suzuka Eight Hour experience got me thinking of a few capers the boys and me managed a few years back at what is still Japan's most important race of the season. It is a unique event that starts at 11am and finishes at 7pm making  it a pukka endurance race as the last hour is run with headlights on in the dark. It is essentially an eight hour sprint that showcases the trickest endurance machinery and manufacturer’s sales can be affected the following year depending on who wins or loses.

Jorge Lorenzo Gets His Motorcycle License

Thu, 08 Mar 2012

2010 MotoGP Champion Jorge Lorenzo has earned his A2 Spanish motorcycle license. Last month, we learned Lorenzo was practicing for the test on a Yamaha YB250R motorcycle, and now the Yamaha factory racer has completed the practical portion of the test. Here he is pictured with his riding teacher Xavi Vallejo (and wouldn’t it be cool to tell people you taught a MotoGP World Champion how to ride a motorcycle?).

Anti clockwise Knockhill and riding in the North East with GP winners.

Wed, 06 Jun 2012

I was both nervous and excited for my first ever reverse direction track day last week at Knockhill. From rushing downhill into the left hand off camber hairpin to sweeping up onto the start/finish, nothing bears any resemblance to riding round clockwise. I actually raced my 350LC in the opposite direction in 1982 but it still took a few laps to get my head round what essentially is a brand new track for Scotland.
