The Yamaha FZ8 and FAZER8, also known as the FZ8N and FZ8S, are motorcycles produced since 2010 by Yamaha Motor Corporation. The FZ8 is a naked bike, while the virtually identical FAZER8 features a half fairing and ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM. Both motorcycles have a 779 cc inline-four engine, derived from the engine fitted to the 998 cc FZ1, but with a bore reduced to 68 mm (3.0 to 2.7 in), and the same stroke of 53.6 mm (2.11 in). Other differences from the FZ1 engine include a lighter crankshaft, smaller valves and revised camshaft profiles. Colin Edwards Joins Forward Racing CRT Squad for 2012
Fri, 02 Sep 2011Colin Edwards will join the Forward Racing team to compete in the 2012 MotoGP season as a Claiming Rule Team entry. Edwards, known as a good development rider and an even better quote machine, is the first rider to officially sign on with a CRT. Forward Racing may be more familiar to some race fans by its former name, Hayate Racing, the outfit that ran the Kawasaki ZX-RR with Marco Melandri in 2009 after Kawasaki pulled out of MotoGP racing.
2013 Dakar Rally Results
Mon, 21 Jan 2013Cyril Despres won his fifth career Dakar Rally while helping KTM win for the 12th consecutive time, in taking the motorcycle class in the 2013 edition of the famed off-road race. KTM was again the dominant manufacturer with the top five finishers in the motorcycle class riding motorcycles from the Austrian manufacturer. Despres finished with an overall time of 43:24:22 for the win, including a 15-minute penalty for swapping an engine after the one he was using in his KTM 450 Rallye failed.
Schwantz Headlines 2012 Isle of Man TT Parade Lap
Tue, 24 Apr 2012Former 500cc World Champion Kevin Schwantz headlines a star-studded group of racers taking part in a parade lap during the 2012 Isle of Man TT. Schwantz leads the group of six racers, past and present, selected by helmet-maker Arai to take part in the parade lap of the Isle of Man’s Mountain Course. Schwantz has visited the Isle of Man before, but this will mark his first closed lap of the circuit.
