Yamaha Other description

BUYER MUST PICK UP" WILL NOT SHIP.  1976 Yamaha RD 400, daily rider condition, starts and runs good, everything works. Two original keys work ignition, gas cap, helmet and seat lock. Unmolested engine adult driven with 27,355 miles at this writing, more being added. Oil injected works perfectly and kept adjusted to factory spec. Good Avon tires, D&D HD Chain, seat recovered locally. Gas tank in good condition inside and out but like the rest of the bike, not perfect. Decals and chrome in poor condition, mostly due to battery acid stripping the chrome off. . Some rust. Bike could be restored with new chrome and some new paint, but it still has old bike syndrome......it leaks oil. I check the engine case frequently and keep the level up but this giant killer likes to mark its territory. There are some dents in the front fender, hard to show in pictures. Included with the bike is a matching fairing less windshield. Never been on the bike, never got around to finding a new shield. I don't know who made the fairing but its a match for the bike. Also included is a factory repair manual, owners manual, tool kit,  couple magazines from the day and a brand new never out of the bag size large RD400 T-shirt and clear title. I never put the new decals on because apparently that can't be done withut repainting the tank. Yamaha sprayed clear coat over the decals, so I have been told they could not be removed with damaging the paint.

These 40 year old bikes out handle a lot of new stuff on the market and give a soft smooth comfortable ride. The 400 has rubber mounting, lower RPM (6 Seed), isolated muffler and a larger gas tank than the 350's.  was aimed at those who didn't like the noise and shorter range of the 350's.

Buyer must pick up bike in Wisconsin, 50 miles NE from St. Paul, MN. I will not ship.

Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Motorcycle Suspensions + Video

Mon, 07 Jul 2014

More than just “those bouncy things” that keep our motorcycles on the road, suspension plays a vital role in virtually every aspect of a motorcycle’s handling. But how well do you know what goes on inside a set of forks, or inside a shock? In this video, courtesy of the Yamaha Champions Riding School, Mark Rozema, proprietor of Markbilt Racing, explains exactly how suspensions work and why there are so many different variations.

Colin Edwards’ Gear Being Auctioned For Feed The Children

Tue, 29 Jul 2014

While Colin Edwards may no longer be a factory Yamaha racer these days, he still enjoys a close bond with the tuning fork brand. So much so that Yamaha has announced a unique opportunity to bid on a historic set of road racing leathers, boots, gloves, and helmet as worn by Edwards during this, his final season in MotoGP. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Feed the Children, which is Yamaha Motor Corporation’s official corporate charity.

Yamaha Sketches out the Features on the New 2010 YZ450F [Video]

Thu, 10 Sep 2009

You’ll realize how cheesy that headline is after watching the pretty rad video that Yamaha has released. Yamaha’s new motocross bike has taken a radical new approach.  The engine is backwards. Yamaha’s reason for doing this is to shift the heavy end of the motor more to the center of the motorcycle to make it more agile and responsive.  Slanting the cylinder also made for a straighter pathway for the air intake at the front of the bike.
