BACKGROUNDER ON THE EXUP

When introduced in 1989, this 600 sports bike re-wrote the rules for this class, a vast improvement on the outgoing FZ600, this was the machine to beat, and gave the engineer’s at Honda something to think about!

It’s 91 BHP from a new four valve per cylinder engine, the five valve being dropped, was class leading in it’s day, especially coupled with 65.7 NM of torque. It proved a winner on the track as well, with it’s revolutionary delta box frame, allowing a low weight of just 176kg, class leading at that time.

It was a great success for Yamaha, and only being ousted by the even more powerful and innovative Honda CBR600 F2. Which led to Yamaha upping the game again with the YZF-600R followed by the iconic R6’.

2015 Yamaha FZ-07 Announced for Canada

Tue, 18 Mar 2014

Yamaha announced it would import the MT-07 to Canada as the 2015 FZ-07. Until now, the twin-cylinder roadster had only been announced for Europe as the MT-07; there is no word the FZ-07 will be offered in the U.S., but the Canadian announcement is a good sign it may be coming soon. Revealed at EICMA, the FZ-07 slots in under the three-cylinder FZ-09 (known as the MT-09 outside of the North America) with a newly-developed liquid-cooled 689cc parallel-Twin engine.

Stuck for a gift? Solution No3: Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki or Kawasaki merchandise

Fri, 09 Dec 2011

After the excesses of KTM and Harley's gifts ranges, Hondas seems tame. But even the sober Japanese firm has a handful of oddities in its line-up. The Japanese have been accused of imitating in the past, and Honda's incorporation of a baby's dummy in its official accessories catalogue mimics KTM's 'Silencer-System Mini Pro'.
