Everything about this ride speaks to setting out, destination unknown, and just going until you can’t go anymore. So every Victory Touring Cruiser motorcycle starts with the same thing, the spirit of the drifter. It gets built into every one of these machines. For proof, see the jewel in the center, the Freedom 92/5 engine. We made it strong, to eat big miles. It’s equipped with counterbalancers and EFI, so everything is smooth. The rest of the bike follows suit. You get a rubber-mounted, vibration-isolating handlebar to keep arms happy. The front and rear suspensions were recalibrated last year to provide even more comfort. There are cushioned floorboards, freeway bars, highway lights and a windshield to keep gusts off your chest. You’ll find lockable, hard saddlebags that are a cinch to open. Alongside the official unveiling of the new 2013 Victory Judge at the New York IMS came the unwrapping of a custom Café racer version of Victory’s new cruiser by Zach Ness. The grandson of Arlen Ness and son of Cory decided to give the Judge a café racer makeover, completely re-doing the Judge’s rear including getting rid of the number plate area below the seat that seems to be hit-or-miss with critics. Ness is still tinkering with his custom Judge, and he says he intends to ride it into Daytona Bike Week.

Monday was the second day of the marathon stage in Bolivia. The riders had to race through the stunning landscapes of the Altiplano plateau from Bolivia to Chile. The whole stage was held at an altitude of 11,500 feet, making it an enormous challenge for man and machine. The athletes half-circled and crossed the “Salar de Uyuni,” the biggest salt flat in the world.
