Triumph TR5AR description

Here is a 1961 Triumph TR5AR for rebuild or restoration.  This is one of the rarest unit twin Triumph motorcycles, only produced for a couple of years and made in very small numbers for the American market only.  The TR5AR was one of the first non-bathtub styled 500's and it hints at the beautiful 60's bikes to follow.  I purchased this bike about 15 years ago and have been too distracted by other projects to give this one a go so it's time to move it onward.  The motor and frame numbers match and a lot of the bike is correct and present but lots is missing too and some of what is there is not correct.  Most motor internals are present but the pistons are stuck. I think the head is from a later bike and perhaps the transmission too but I am not certain.  Carb, fuel and oil tank (repaired), wheels, front fender are correct but the back fender is from a 50's Triumph and the side stand is pieced together.  I'm not a Triumph expert but know a fair bit about motorcycles so I can probably answer most questions about this bike, you may call me (336) 908-1869 if you prefer.  Leave a message if I don't answer and I will return your call.  This is a bike to rebuild and is not complete and correct.  Period.

There is no title, I had to put an entry into that box.  I can provide a bill of sale.

Shipping is buyers responsibility.  I can store the bike for a month or two and have a commercial address for pickup but all shipping arrangements are to be taken care of by the buyer.  I will consider taking the bike apart and shipping in pieces for an additional fee.  Please contact me concerning this before the auction ends if you want to try this approach.

The only reserve is the opening bid.

Based out of Upton-Upon-Severn in Worcestershire, England, Mac Motorcycles will produce a line of bikes powered by Buell’s air-cooled single cylinder 492cc engines used in the Blast, with a tubular backbone frame. On the company’s website, Pitt describes its bikes as being simple to maintain, include references and details from choppers and bobbers and feature “Harley posture, flat-track manners, Ducati handling”.

Q3 2013 US Motorcycle Sales Results

Fri, 01 Nov 2013

Motorcycle and scooter sales in the U.S. in 2013 remain consistent with last year’s figures, according to data released by the Motorcycle Industry Council. Several manufacturers blamed poor weather for the poor start this year, and the rebounding sales in the third quarter helped to negate the slow sales from earlier in the year.
