Triumph Speed Triple description
The Triumph Speed Triple is one of the second generation of Hinckley Triumphs that, in the late 1990's, really put them back on the map. The Speed Triple is essentially a naked, upright, ‘streetfightered’ Daytona, but it’s a surprising winner that’s not only brimful of bad boy character, but also manages to employ the wonderful and unique 955 triple motor into a exciting and versatile package. The second generation Triumph Speed Triple is one of the best. There’s nothing on earth quite like the fruity and fast second generation Triumph triple. As you might hope, this layout is a happy compromise between the easy, flexible torque of a twin and the free revving power of a four. In sports bike mode the Triumph Speed Triple has always been a little lacking somehow, but as a street fighter it’s an absolute blast. Steadier and less lairy than the new, stumpy 1050 and for many that’s a good thing. The 955 Triple is a big, butch ‘mans’ machine yet with a big enough nod towards sports (decent brakes, suspension etc) to make it fun. Don’t expect to hold onto the shirttails of the latest super-sports bikes and you’ll have fun – and have a more comfortable ride, too… |

If Carlsberg made race circuits...
Fri, 15 Oct 2010I should have filed this blog an hour earlier but I became distracted by the human circus that is the Jeremy Kyle show. It’s a shameful admission, I know, but I’m a firm believer in the policy of honesty being the best. Enjoying the luxury of working from home, I was only making myself a bacon sandwich with the TV on in the background when excited cries of ‘Freak, Freak!’ from Mrs MF drew my attention to this (see pic).
2006-2009 Triumph Daytona 675 and Street Triple Recalled
Mon, 24 Sep 2012Triumph is issuing a recall on the Daytona 675, the Street Triple and the Street Triple R for model years 2006-2009. According to documents released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the regulator rectifier on the affected Triumph units may overheat, damaging its internal components. This may affect the regulator rectifier’s ability to control the charge capacity of the batteries, potentially leading the battery to become discharged completely.
