Suzuki to Relocate R&D Facility to Lower Tsunami Risk Area

Suzuki is considering moving its motorcycle research facility from its current coastal location to its main factory in Hamamatsu, Japan, to decrease the risk of damage from future tsunamis. According to a report in the Nikkei business daily, Suzuki is acquiring more land in Hamamatsu to house the research center and other facilities. Suzuki CEO Osamu Suzuki first brought up the idea to relocate some of its higher risk coastal properties during its 2011-2012 fiscal year forecast report.

The first race saw the reigning World Superbike champion fight his way up from 11th place for the win while Race 2 offered a three-way battle between the two Kawasaki riders and Aprilia‘s Sylvain Guintoli. Kevin Schwantz, the 1993 500cc World Grand Prix Champion, rode his iconic #34 Lucky Strike Suzuki RGV500 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed over the weekend. Celebrating its 20 year, FoS, the world’s largest motoring garden party, held in West Sussex, U.K., brings together present and past dignitaries of both motorcycle and auto racing. The three-day event attracted upwards of 150,000 spectators this year.
