Norton Commando Mark III description

1975 Norton Commando Mk III Roadster

You are looking at a 1975 Norton Commando Mk 3 which incorporates all disk brakes and electric start. It has a clear title with matching engine and transmission numbers. I am the fourth owner, and purchased it 23 years ago with the intention of restoration, but spent time on another bike and lost momentum. I have put no mileage on it. The bike is admittedly a project bike, and not in running order, but had been about 12 years ago. The engine still kicks over and has been kept in an attached garage and covered. The bike is mostly complete, but missing air boxes, mufflers and speedometer. The tachometer is not functional.

Some attempts have been made by me to keep the tank interior from rusting, and it looks to have been repaired with some type of epoxy on the outside by a previous owner. I cannot guarantee it is repairable. It also has a slight dent on upper right-hand side.

When I first bought it, I replaced the wheel bearings and fork seals. About 12 years ago a friend from the local Norton Owners club straightened out a wiring issue, replaced a Mikuni setup with the original Amals and manifold, properly jetted the carbs and got brakes working. He put his own tank and seat on it for testing and rode it through side streets. He reported it shifted through all gears properly.

The seat pan and side covers are included. The front fender, tank and seat pan are shown in position, but not bolted down. The starter is also mounted, however I don't know if it works. I also have the original seat foam and a seat kit, new in box, although I'm not sure they are usable due to age.

I won't insult your intelligence with how the Mark III doesn't lose value and blah, blah. This bike will take some time and a complete going over, but it's almost all there and in one piece; and with a clear title and matching numbers, that's a great start.

Please let me know if you have questions, and good luck bidding.
