THIS IS A VERY RARE MOTORCYCLE. IT IS COMPLETELY ORIGINAL. IT HAS THE ORIGINAL EXHAUST. 90% OF THESE 650'S HAD AFTERMARKET SLIP-ONS DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE ORIGINALS CRACKED AT THE MOUNTING BRACKETS. THE OTHER THING THAT MAKES IT UNIQUE IS THAT IT HAS TWIN CARBS. ALL 1968 650'S WERE SUPPOSED TO HAVE A SINGLE CARBURETOR. I LOCATED A COLLECTOR IN JAPAN WHO TOLD ME THAT TOWARDS THE END OF 1968, KAWASAKI BUILT ABOUT 100 OF THESE TWIN CARB BIKES AND SOLD THEM TO THE PUBLIC FOR REAL WORLD TESTING. HE DOES NOT KNOW HOW MANY MADE IT TO AMERICA. THE MOTORCYCLE HAS ALWAYS BEEN GARAGED. THE TANK HAS AGE FADING. I COULD HAVE HAD ALL OF THE TIN REPAINTED FOR $500. BIG TIME COLLECTORS ALWAYS SAY THEY ARE ONLY ORIGINAL ONCE. I HAVE PUT IT IN 3 SHOWS AND WON THE SURVIVOR CLASS EACH TIME. THE BIKE RUNS PERFECTLY. I TOOK IT ON A 100-MILE RIDE WITHOUT ISSUES, AND IT IS SURPRISINGLY QUICK. IT IS CURRENTLY REGISTERED IN CALIFORNIA. |

WSBK 2013: Portimao Race Report
Mon, 10 Jun 2013Marco Melandri and Eugene Laverty split a pair of victories at Portugal’s Portimao circuit while Sylvain Guintoli took advantage of some misfortune to his championship rivals to increase his lead in the 2013 World Superbike Championship standings. Guintoli has been leading or sharing the lead in the championship since winning the first race of Round 1 in Australia, but amazingly continues to lead despite having just that single victory after six rounds. The Aprilia rider has accomplished this through his consistency (Guintoli leads all racers with nine podium finishes in 12 races) and ability to finish each race (he’s the only rider in the top seven without a DNF).

Mon, 03 Jun 2013Michael Dunlop captured his second victory in the 2013 Isle of Man TT, winning the first Supersport race a day after doing the same in the Superbike race. But it was a different Dunlop that led early on the first lap. Older brother William Dunlop on the Milwaukee Yamaha R6 had the fastest time through Glen Helen, between the ninth and tenth milestones of the Isle of Man’s Mountain course.
The TT800 From Deus Ex Machina
Wed, 16 Jul 2014Deus Ex Machina, the surf/moto shop known for creating throwback, one-of-a-kind motorcycles, has released its latest work of art, the TT800. Paying tribute to the highly successful Triumph factory TT machines from the mid-1960s, Deus’ expert builder, Michael Woolaway, created the TT800 for a customer requesting a new, old Triumph. It sources a Kawasaki W650 bored out to 800cc with CR carbs, a custom TT inspired exhaust, custom chromoly racing frame, re-valved Öhlins forks, and a custom gusseted swing arm for more stability. A Beringer six-piston caliper front brake provides stopping power.
