Honda To Build All-Green Test Track For E-Bikes And Cars

Honda has been making motions about its intentions to enter the electric motorcycle market with the RC-E concept bike and the Mugen Shinden Ni electric race bike (pictured above). Those plans are further bolstered by the news Honda will be constructing a test track dedicated entirely to the development of electric motorcycles and cars. Building an entirely new test track requires a massive amount of  resources, and Honda intends to make this project 100% self-sustainable by using 70,000 solar panels, spread out over 33 hectares, with the track and remaining facilities taking up another 25 hectares.

If you were ever curious how to convert your smelly, noisy and dirty gas powered motorcycle into a quiet and zero emissions electric motorcycle then you have to check this video out from GomiStyle.  They take an old Honda Rebel 250 and customize the frame to accommodate the electric motor and batteries, they claim the conversion should take about two to three days to complete, the batteries will take about 5-8 hours to charge and will give you a top speed of 45 mph. Suzuka Eight Hour capers

Chatting to TT legend John McGuiness recently about his first Suzuka Eight Hour experience got me thinking of a few capers the boys and me managed a few years back at what is still Japan's most important race of the season. It is a unique event that starts at 11am and finishes at 7pm making  it a pukka endurance race as the last hour is run with headlights on in the dark. It is essentially an eight hour sprint that showcases the trickest endurance machinery and manufacturer’s sales can be affected the following year depending on who wins or loses.
