Marco Melandri earned BMW its second ever World Superbike victory to move into second place in the championship standings behind Max Biaggi in the series’ only stop in the United States. Melandri won a red-flagged Race Two at Utah’s Miller Motorsports Park after finishing second to defending WSBK Champion Carlos Checa in Race One to give him 142.5 points on the season, tied with Kawasaki‘s Tom Sykes but behind Aprilia‘s Biaggi who leads the way with 160.5 points. 2014 Honda CTX700 Recalled in Canada for ABS Issue

Thu, 11 Jul 2013

Transport Canada announced a recall for the new Honda CTX700 because of a manufacturing error in its anti-lock braking system. The Canadian recall applies to both the CTX700N and the partially-faired CTX700T (known simply as the Honda CTX700 in the U.S. market and other markets.) According to the recall notice, the ABS modulator may have been manufactured incorrectly and could potentially fail, allowing the front and/or rear wheels to lock up under heavy braking, increasing the risk of a crash.

2014 WSBK – Portimao Results

Mon, 07 Jul 2014

Kawasaki‘s Tom Sykes extended his championship lead while a Race Two collision between Aprilia teammates Sylvain Guintoli and Marco Melandri provided drama in the World Superbike Championship round at Portugal’s Portimao track. Sykes qualified on the pole in a sun-draped Superpole session but the clouds rolled in on race day, forcing teams to plan for mixed weather. An overcast sky presided over a dry Race One, leading to a mix of tire choices but all of the racers switched to wet tires for Race Two that saw the scheduled 20-lap length reduced to 18 laps.
