Honda MR50 description

This is a Glass of 55 Consignment Auction.   YOU ARE BIDDING ON A 1974 HONDA MR50 TRIBUTE BIKE HONORING THE 1974 & 1975 AMA 125cc NATIONAL MOTOCROSS CHAMPION MARTY SMITH'S 1975 #1 HONDA. THE OWNER PAINSTAKINGLY SOURCED OUT NEW AND N.O.S. PARTS, THEN COMPLETELY TORE DOWN THIS BIKE. THE ENGINE WAS DISSASEMBLED AND NEW BEARINGS, SEALS, GASKETS, AND RINGS WERE INSTALLED AND THEN IT WAS PAINTED. THE CARB WAS CLEANED AND GONE THROUGH. THE FRAME WAS COMPLETELY STRIPPED TO BARE METAL AND THEN POWDER-COATED WITH THE HONDA RED. THE GAS TANK WAS PROFFESIONALLY STRIPPED AND PAINTED HONDA RED. THERE IS NO RUST IN THE TANK AND HAS BEEN COATED WITH MP3 TO COMBAT RUST. THERE HAS BEEN NO FUEL PUT INTO THE TANK SINCE THE BUILD. THE BIKE WAS ASSEMBLED USING STAINLESS FASTNERS THROUGH-OUT. THIS WAS A RUNNING BIKE BEFORE BEING TORN DOWN, BUT HAS NOT HAD FUEL OR BEEN STARTED SINCE THE BUILD. THIS WAS BUILT AS A SHOWROOM/DISPLAY PIECE. IT DOES HAVE SPARK AND IF THE NEW OWNER WANTS TO RUN IT, IT WILL NEED FUEL AND SOME MINOR ADJUSTMENTS TO MAKE IT RUN, AS HE HAD IT ON DISPLAY IN HIS HOUSE. THIS WOULD MAKE A GREAT MAN-CAVE, GARAGE, OR DEALERSHIP DISPLAY. NOTE: THERE ARE TWO MINOR ISSUES. IT HAS A NEW SEAT COVER THAT COMES WITH IT, BUT HAS NOT BEEN INSTALLED. THE FOOTPEG BAR IS BENT SLIGHTLY ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE. HE DID NOT NOTICE THIS UNTIL IT WAS INSTALLED, BUT HE HAD IT POWDERCOATED AND DID NOT WANT TO BEND IT BACK TO ORIGINAL AND POSSIBLY CRACKING THE COATING. IT IS MINOR.
THE FOLLOWING PARTS ARE EITHER NEW OR N.O.S.

TIRES & TUBES, FRONT FORK SEALS & DUST COVERS, FRONT & REAR FENDERS, SIDE PANELS, FRONT NUMBER PLATE & CABLE GUIDE, # PLATE STRAP, HANDLEBARS, LEVERS, GRIPS, CABLES, KILL SWITCH (not oem), DECALS, SHIFT LEVER, GAS CAP, CHROME MAG COVER & RUBBER GASKET, CHAIN, CHAIN ADJUSTERS, AND SEAT COVER (not installed).

THIS IS A 40+ YEAR OLD DIRT BIKE AND THERE IS NO WARRANTY. IT IS SOLD AS-IS, WHERE-IS AND A REQUIRED $500 DEPOSIT THROUGH PAYPAL WITHIN  24 HOURS OF AUCTION END. FULL PAYMENT TO BE MADE WITHIN 7 DAYS OF AUCTION END. CASH (in person), BANK CASHIER'S CHECK (with Bank Letter of authenticity and check will be verified before new owner takes possession) OR PAYPAL ACCEPTED. IT STATES THERE IS A "CLEAR TITLE" IN THE SPECIFICS ( A Ebay FORCED ENTRY), BUT IT COMES WITH A BILL OF SALE ONLY.
LOCAL PICKUP OR THE BUYER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR SHIPPING ARRANGEMENTS. located off of 1-44, 50 miles west of St. Louis

A Weighty Issue

Mon, 03 Nov 2008

For as long as I can remember, motorcycle manufacturers have been playing fast and loose with regard to what they claim for the weight of their bikes. The “dry weights” they foisted upon us had little basis in reality. The “dry” part of that claim meant that listed weights on a spec chart were the result of all fluids being MIA from the bike, including necessities like engine oil, coolant and fork fluid (not to mention fuel), but even that didn’t fully explain the overly optimistic specs.

Results From Day 1 Of World Supersport Testing At Phillip Island

Mon, 17 Feb 2014

Despite losing the World Supersport title last year to a hard-charging Sam Lowes, Mahi Racing Team India’s Kenan Sofuoglu, aboard his Kawasaki ZX-6R, hasn’t lost any of the pace that has made him the overwhelming favorite heading into 2014. He topped the timesheets on the first day of testing at Phillip Island, setting a time of 1:33.521, putting him at near lap-record pace. Second on the day was Dutchman Michael van der Mark, aboard the Pata Honda CBR600RR.

WSBK 2012: Assen Results

Mon, 23 Apr 2012

The Netherlands hosted a dramatic weekend of World Superbike racing that featured a red-flagged wet race, several riders crashing while leading, a first-time race winner, a photo finish between two teammates and the reigning World Champion finishing out of the points because of a poor choice of tires. The 2011 WSBK Champion Carlos Checa arrived at Assen with the lead in the championship and a three-race winning streak, but opting to run wet tires in Race Two cost him the lead and may have contributed to a crash that severely injured Liberty Racing‘s Brett McCormick.
