2011 Honda CBR1000RR

Much like the Honda CB1000R, the new Honda CBR1000RR has a strange name. But more than their shared commonality for long alpha-numeric designations, the CB1000R and the CBR1000RR also have one thing in common: they’re two of the best sportsbikes on the market.

As a matter of fact, the latter has been touted ’revolutionary’ by more than one expert while also establishing new standards for a light weight, superlative handling, remarkably compact bike with exceptional performance numbers to boot.

Talking about its performance capabilities, the Honda CBR1000RR is powered by a powerful 999cc liquid-cooled inline four-cylinder engine with a close-ratio six-speed transmission. This setup is joined by an inverted HMAS cartridge fork with spring preload, rebound, and compression damping adjustability and a Unit Pro-Link HMAS single shock rear suspension with the same spring preload, rebound, and compression damping adjustability of the front suspension. The bike also features 320mm front brake discs with dual radial-mounted four-piston calipers to go with a single 220mm brake disc.

In a world dominated by high-powered superbikes that are more one-dimensional than anything else, the Honda CBR1000RR offers a unique blend of simple and casual styling to go with outstanding performance numbers.

Now if they can only do something about shortening its name...

If you thought the license test was hard in America…

Thu, 28 Apr 2011

I’ll be the first to admit that the procedure to get a motorcycle endorsement (and a car license for that matter) in this country is incredibly easy. If you’re smart, you sit in a classroom for a few hours, answer some basic questions, learn all the controls, perform a simple riding test, and you’re off to the races.  Look at what the Japanese have to do to get their certification! Check out the video after the jump.

More Than $5 Million Available From 2014 Honda Red Riders Rewards

Fri, 17 Jan 2014

The continuation of Honda’s Red Riders Rewards program for 2014 means more than $5 million in earnings will be available to racers. Honda owners have the opportunity to earn payouts at more than 1500 races in 2014 motocross, off-road, dirt track, ATV and road racing contests throughout the country. Honda’s press release was awfully thin with details for road racers, instead focusing on a restructure of the off-road series payouts and the different ways competitors can hope to win money in.

Maybe the Evo class is the future for WSB?

Thu, 05 May 2011

Did we see the future of World Superbike racing last weekend at the BSB event? Possibly, but only if everyone is on Evo spec machines in 2012. By setting the 2nd fastest lap in race one and running second for a while in race two, the brilliant Alex Lowes proved that with a good grid position an Evo spec machine can be competitive for part race distance at least.
