Here's my 1978 Honda CB750 "Lucky No. 7" Cafe Racer. Just got it back from the shop. All major work done by Geoff Godfrey at Zebra Racing in Bealton-Virginia The bike was completely stripped down and the frame was de-burred and then powder coated a lustrous black (double layer). The engine was tightened up, serviced, tuned and then detailed, with a chrome valve cover and custom chrome valve tappets. Engine runs very smooth with lots of power. NGK plugs and K&N pod air filters. Carbs are synched perfectly. Starts on the very first try every time. The electrical was completely stripped and replaced with new wiring and a new battery. All nuts and bolts were replaced with high quality stainless steel ones. The front forks were rebuilt and powder coated, and the handlebars were replaced with a lower profile set. Front brake caliper rebuilt as well. Custom 4 into 2 chrome exhaust. Quiet until u get out on the road and open her up, but not annoyingly loud. Custom oil pressure gauge installed on the right side of the engine. Original gauges restored by Joel Levine Company in Lafayette-Georgia. The gas tank is an original and rare 'breadbox' CB750 Super Sport tank with custom knee cutouts done by Dave Barker at SpeedMetal out in Denver-Colorado. Custom seat, with built in red running light at the very rear. Bright LED brake lights built into the frame underneath. Illuminated license plate as well. Electric and kick start. No turn signals. Horn works, along with the high and low beam headlight. Clean Virginia title. Engine is original to the bike.
This bike is old school technology and some modern additions, with an emphasis on clean lines and excellent performance. This bike is perfectly balanced, does not shake or rattle, and will do 110 MPH without any effort. Just remember, the breaking technology is still from the 1970's, so if there were an additional upgrade that should be done, it would be the addition of dual disc brakes. The bike wheels are also original and showing their age, but have been cleaned up and polished, with an addition of a red pin stripe. There are a few minor scratches here and there, but otherwise the bike is in excellent condition. This has been a 4 year labor of love that has finally culminated in what u see in the photos. I don't expect to get all of my monetary investment back from this project, but I'm also not going to just let it go for nothing. No reserve. No international sales. US sales only. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer, although I can assist with any loading when it comes time for the pick-up. Recall on Kuryakyn Transformer Passenger Floorboards for Honda Gold Wing
Tue, 20 Dec 2011Accessory manufacturer Küryakyn is issuing a recall on its Transformer passenger floorboards for the 2001-2011 Honda Gold Wing. According to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the mounts of the Küryakyn Transformer floorboards may crack and break free from the mounting bolts. The floorboards may unexpectedly fall off the motorcycle, potentially leading to a crash or injury.
Honda’s New Documentary: Dreams vs Nightmares [trailer]
Wed, 24 Jun 2009Honda have been releasing video documentaries on… well… everything! Why? Well to toot their own horn and remind you that Honda is crazy cool. Actually, their videos aren’t that bad, although somewhat dramatic. I hunkered down and watched their “Failure: The Secret to Success” video and it held my attention. Their new video is titled “Dreams vs Nightmares”, which features a few notable people such as Clive Barker and Deepak Chopra. I’m curious to see how they take this theme and use it to show how and why Honda creates and designs the products they make.
Magneti Marelli to Supply Electronics System to MotoGP Teams
Wed, 26 Sep 2012It’s no secret that promoter Dorna Motorsports has been trying to push a standardized electronics control unit for teams in the MotoGP World Championship. The lack of a top-tier electronics package has been one of the biggest challenges faced by MotoGP’s claiming rule teams, and a spec ECU would narrow the gap between the CRT bikes and the factory prototypes. The manufacturers competing in the series, Honda, Ducati and Yamaha, understandably are resistant to the idea considering the effort they’ve put in to develop their electronics systems.
