Honda CB description

I purchased this wonderful well-kept and rare Honda CB 360 last July 2012 from an owner in Nebraska who collected old CB’s stored in a barn on a farm. He was the 2nd owner who appears to have purchased the bike from the original owner in Iowa based on the title exchange records when I licensed the motorcycle earlier this spring. He sold this particular model because his son was getting married and needed money for the wedding (or perhaps the honeymoon)! I’m selling this wonderful two-wheeler because I have not had time to ride and enjoy it, and it has sat in my garage. There were 1,994 original (yes original) miles on the bike when I purchased it. It now has 2,060 original miles which shows you how little I’ve ridden it.

The previous owner upgraded the following items:

  • Replaced gaskets with OE (original equipment) gasket kit
  • New Tires
  • New Battery
  • New Handle Grips
  • New Fuel Filter
  • New Spark Plugs (NGK)
  • New Frame Paint (note: the only thing that is visually noticeable is that the paint is flaking a bit only on the front brake housing, but otherwise excellent throughout the rest of the motorcycle.
  • The front brakes could be bled once more for smooth as butter braking and cruising.

The bike is in immaculate shape, starts with no choke, and runs like a sewing machine. Some of the best features are the dark non-faded gauges, the plastic control switches look like new with no fade or wear, and the paint is dark, no dents with only surface scratches and a few chips, and the original seat is still soft with no signs of wear. The bike has some surface rust on the front fender and some miscellaneous bolts and nuts. The front brake lever has a small piece that is broken off, but can be welded back on if detail is important - it is 100% fully functional however. All electronics work (horn, starter, lights, brake, tail, blinkers, neutral, high beam indicator) but the blinkers come on and don’t blink.

The exhaust pipes are very rare, purchased by the previous owner brand new in box from 1970’s aftermarket with a small amount of staining (see photos). They sound very similar to original which is a great tone! The bike gets lots of 2nd looks and smiles and literally looks like it is brand new. The pictures do a pretty good job of describing the condition - note that pictures include Nebraska License, although bike is licensed and titled in Wyoming. Previous owner took better pics than I could. No surprises on this bike. Comes with a clear title in hand, as well as the original tool kit and owners manual.

Metzeler Z8 wins Motorrad award

Tue, 10 Apr 2012

METZELER'S Z8 Interact sports-touring tyre has been classed as the best wet weather sports-touring tyre by the German Motorrad TestCenter. Metzeler decided to develop new compounds for the Roadtec Z8 Interact precisely to meet these needs, tyres with the specific goal of providing riders not only the most recent technological solutions available in the area of wet performance, but also the possibility of having a tyre with a wide range of use that represents the new standard in terms of performance in any weather conditions, from wet and cold to hot and dry. The criteria considered in the wet test by Motorrad TestCenter have been: steering precision and characteristics, line holding during acceleration, ease of handling, grip at lean angle for front and rear tyres, grip during acceleration, limit range characteristics, feedback at lean angle, braking stability during full braking with ABS.

Recall on Kuryakyn Transformer Passenger Floorboards for Honda Gold Wing

Tue, 20 Dec 2011

Accessory manufacturer Küryakyn is issuing a recall on its Transformer passenger floorboards for the 2001-2011 Honda Gold Wing. According to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the mounts of the Küryakyn Transformer floorboards may crack and break free from the mounting bolts. The floorboards may unexpectedly fall off the motorcycle, potentially leading to a crash or injury.

Remember push starts?

Fri, 18 Nov 2011

Alongside the most stunning collection of race and road bikes at their Motegi museum, next to some race bikes, Honda also has a step by step guide on most aspects of riding. I photographed the wonderful text on push starting but I also have lots of equally hilarious instructions on cornering braking and even what a riders goal should be. Watch this space...... oh, and hopefully see you at the NEC over the next ten days!
