Honda ATC description

This is a 1983 Honda ATC 70 that is in good running condition and is mostly original Honda from top to bottom. It is a 4-speed with centrifugal clutch (no clutch lever, just 4-down on the foot lever) I have had it since 2009.

Here are the details: I bought in 2009 it as a non-running machine in need of TLC, top to bottom cleaning and some parts. It was a gift for my children that year, they had many fun times on it but have now outgrown it.

I replaced the following right after getting this ATC 70 in order to get it road worthy:
  • tires
  • seat
  • seat cover
  • rear decal
  • gas cap
  • stator
  • condenser
  • points
  • brake shoes
  • spark plug
  • spark plug wire
  • carburetor and air filter
It is in good shape, but bear in mind it is 33 years old! It's nice, but it is not a museum piece. There are scuffs, scratches, dings etc. Exhaust pump is rusty. Dent in right side of fuel tank. One of the footrest metal pieces is missing. It can be ridden fine without it (the main foot pegs are both there), but you may eventually want to buy a replacement for it on ebay or elsewhere, it will bolt right back on. Please look at photos and ask questions BEFORE you bid. I will take more photos if you need them. Non-paying bidders will quickly reported to ebay, I don't have any tolerance for people wasting my time with irresponsible bidding.

It does not have an odometer so no idea on mileage, particularly because it wasn't mine till 2009. Mileage with my kids is less than 200 miles.

Always stored in a garage while I owned it. I changed the oil every year and kept the tank full of gas all winter to minimize rust but drained the carburetor. Each spring it started right up. There is small puff of smoke on cold startup but not when running. Always allow warm up for a few minutes with these small air-cooled engines for best results and long engine life! Chain was kept lubed and is not rusty. Brakes work well. It does not leak gas or oil. The tank is original steel. It has very light surface rust inside. I installed an inline fuel filter to prevent particles getting into the carburetor and have never had a problem. There is a governor screw on the accelerator to make sure kids cannot go full throttle until they are ready, this was a handy feature that I used. It can move pretty quickly at full throttle, so safety is an important consideration when the little ones are figuring it out. This is a fun little machine, rock solid Honda quality. They don't make them like this anymore :-(

Thanks for looking. Arranging shipping is buyer's responsibility. Pick-up is also fine, but please work with me on that as I work a lot.

Mon, 30 Sep 2013

Tom Sykes and Eugene Laverty each came away with a victory as the World Superbike Championship made its return to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. The first race featured two red flags, ironically caused by AMA Superbike regulars Danny Eslick and Roger Hayden, the two men with the most recent experience at the famed track. The second race was a much cleaner affair, with a dramatic finish, setting up the final two rounds of the championship.
