Harley-Davidson Sportster description

Very factory correct Sparkling America Sportster . Everything on the bike works properly as it should. The bike does not sump oil. Rides perfectly and strong. Starter and generator are freshly rebuilt. Was tuned up recently by R&B cycles here in Nashville. Paint is in very good condition for being 42 years old. There are a few nicks in the paint on the fenders. The tank looks great. There is a faint outline in the paint where there was a sticker. Chrome is in great shape. Wheels are in great shape.  Tires are good. When I purchased the bike I took off all the incorrect additions to the bike a replaced the parts with factory/period correct OEM parts. I saved all the packaging since I thought it was kinda cool!  The bike will come with anything I took off the bike and replaced.

The survey, which will appear on the April 2013 issue of Consumer Reports, says one in three BMW owners reported experiencing a major problem with their bikes in the last four years. Harley-Davidson owners were slightly better, with one in four reporting serious issues.

Harley-Davidson and an American Hero

Fri, 07 Dec 2012

As motorcyclists, we’re drawn to the freedom two wheels represent; just man, machine and the open road. The feeling rings true today as it did 72 years ago, when Wallace Van Sandt, of Birmingham, Alabama, took delivery of his 1941 Harley-Davidson WLD Special Sport Solo, purchased new in 1940 for $365 (roughly $5800 in today’s money) by his father as a high school graduation gift. The WLD Special Sport Solo was a ringer in its day.
