New Delhi Auto Expo 2012 – Motorcycle Manufacturers Draw Battle Lines for World’s Second Largest Market

In past years, the biennial Auto Expo in India slipped under the radar while the industry was focused more on shows such as EICMA in Italy and Intermot in Germany. But with India’s middle class starting to flex its financial muscle while other markets continue to struggle, the New Delhi show is becoming much more prominent, with major OEMs positioning themselves to claim a piece of the India’s 13 million vehicles-a-year market. We’ve already looked at India-produced Royal Enfield’s new Thunderbird 500 and Hero Moto’s hybrid scooter concept which debuted at the Auto Expo, and today we’ll look at what the major international OEMs presented.

AMA Ice Racing Grand Championship Adds Ice Moto Competition

If you’ve been paying attention around here, you’ll know that we love ice racing here on Motorcycle.com. Editors Troy Siahaan and Tom Roderick got a first-hand taste of ice racing last winter, and we got a real kick out of seeing racers Brad Baker, Jared Mees and Nichole Mees taking Harley-Davidson Street 750s onto ice during the Winter X Games. Zero Motorcycles Named to Made in USA Foundation Hall of Fame

The Made in the USA Foundation has named Zero Motorcycles to its 2012 Hall of Fame class, recognizing the electric motorcycle manufacturer’s commitment to American manufacturing. Zero Motorcycles, founded in 2006 in Santa Cruz, Calif., by former NASA engineer Neal Saiki, becomes the second motorcycle manufacturer named to the Foundation’s Hall of Fame. Harley-Davidson was inducted in 2011.
