Ducati Superbike description

2002 Ducati 998 Superbike, last of the gorgeous Tamborini design. I am the ORIGINAL owner, bought in the crate from Munroe Motors in SF.  NEVER down, excellent condition, recent 5000 mile service by West Coast GP cycles, garaged and covered its entire life.  I used to take this to Ducati day once a year at the track and do a couple of session in the slow group then park it in the garage and watch people drool and take photos.  People will walk by 1098R to look this thing over.  I take very good care of and never ride on the street.  Note that is has a clear title but is non-operational with California and is not registered for the street.  It has been lightened of useless street items such as headlights, turn signals, mirrors, and a license plate.  It could easily be registered again.

This bike is for the true enthusiast.  I don't need to sell it and every time I hear the motor I change my mind not to, but it is sad really since this bike needs to be ridden.  I don't find the time to get to track these days so it should be adorned in a true Ducati lovers home with some time to impress friends at the track.  It looks better than bike built in the last 20 years and sounds amazing.

It runs perfectly and has never had any mechanical issues.  I am religious about maintenance and all work done by competent mechanics.  It has the Testaretta engine that eventually went into the 999, so it did not have any issue that plagued the previous 916 and 996.  Recent full service with new brake fluid, oil, clutch fluid, plugs, etc.  Very new Pirelli slicks. The body is near perfect with some minor rock chips in front and one scratch from my boot scraping the rear cowl- as seen in the photos. Thousands in upgrades:

  • Termignoni 1/2 exhuast system with factory race ECU
  • Ohlins steering dampener
  • Brembo radial master cylinder- front brake and clutch
  • Ohlins stiffer rear spring (Ohlins rear shock stock)
  • front and rear Ducati factory race stands (made by FG Racing) included!
  • Paulimoto billet fuel cap
  • Motowheels billet, fully adjustable rear sets
  • Billet open clutch cover
  • Aluminum racing fairing stay
  • Shorai lightweight battery with special charger included!
  • Pirelli Corsa slicks only used once
  • Ducati shop manual (I have owners manual and original tool kit as well)
This is a truly special bike for a Ducati lover and someone that appreciates the finest in motorcycle design that also had an impressive history.  Please don't even bother with low ball offers.  This is not some Matrix edition that a squid rode on East Coast salt roads for 10 years- this bike was well cared for and rarely saw the light of day.  It is reflected in its condition.  I am happy to answer any questions and send more photos.
