Offered here is a perfect US specification Ducati 900 SD Darmah built late in 1977 as a 1978 model and the 564th produced. It is one of 20 1978 US specification Ducati Darmahs produced. The known history includes the original sale in Indiana and three owners. The current mileage is 6,643 and the bike was cosmetically restored to a high standard some time ago. The factory engine seal is intact and the engine and frame stamps are all correct. Original features include the rare Campagnolo wheels, shorter Ceriani front fork and Marzocchi shock absorbers, and Brembo twin bleed brake calipers. All we were told was the system is a semi-active suspension using Sachs components that adjusts its damping settings to varying riding conditions. Ducati has now provided more information about the DSS technology which will be standard equipment on the three “S” versions of the Multistrada 1200, the Touring model, the sportier Pikes Peak model and the new flagship Granturismo model.

Mon, 30 Sep 2013Ever since Audi acquired Ducati, we’ve been anticipating the first cross-brand technological developments between the Italian motorcycle maker and the German automaker. Sure, there have been some cross-promotional tie-ins, but we’ve been waiting with baited breath to see what Audi, and its parent company the Volkswagen Group, had planned with Ducati‘s small engine technology. Well we don’t have to wait for much longer, as VW Chief Executive Officer Ferdinand Piech revealed the first product of the “DucAudi” union in a speech at the University of Vienna: a new sports car concept called the Volkswagen XL Sport powered by the Superquadro engine from the Ducati 1199 Panigale.
