CUSTOM YAMAHA XS650 CAFE RACER / STREET TRACKER by KERSTING MOTORCYCLES
First let me introduce myself. I am an independent bike builder that has been in business full time since 2010. I have built and restored quite a few motorcycles of all types from vintage Japanese to late model Harley's. The bike I am listing for sale is a cross between a cafe racer and street tracker, a model I call the "Hornet". This is the fourth XS650 Hornet I have built. The other three have since been sold to customer's around the country, one of which located overseas in the Virgin Islands. This particular bike started life as a low mileage 1982 Yamaha XS650 Special. It was disassembled right down to the frame/engine. The engine was not removed since the mileage is so low, just 3,939 miles at time of listing. The front end was completely disassembled, and rebuilt with new fork seals, oil, freshly packed steering head bearings, etc. The frame and engine were carefully cleaned and painted...high temperature engine enamel for the motor. The carburetors were completely gone through, re-jetted and tuned to accommodate the open exhaust and intake. The pipes are modified from stock headers and given a "sand" blasted finish for a tough, understated look. The bike sounds excellent and runs absolutely perfect as you can see in the video (copy and paste this link: https://youtu.be/ktsLE7MCgp8 ), The clubman style bars and solo seat make for an aggressive looking seating position, although it's surprisingly comfortable to ride. Obviously not "cross country touring bike comfortable", but you'll have no problem ripping around town for hours at a time. As for rider fit, I am about 5'11" - 6'0" tall and have no problems riding the bike...you'll see how the bike fits me in the video. Shorter riders will be perfectly fine, I just wouldn't recommend it if you're extremely tall. Of course the bike has the very cool kick start but I also kept the electric start for those days you just want to press the button and go. The bike has brand new Kenda Challenger tires front and rear, and all wear items have been replaced with new such as brakes, chain, clutch seal, fork seals, battery, fluids, etc. Other details include custom turn signals, LED taillight, and several custom made parts. I personally machined the foot pegs, fabricated the rear fender, chain guard, number plates, and performed all the welding. High quality TIG welds only. Most importantly this bike is meant to be ridden and is 100% reliable. It starts easy every time, runs perfect, and drives excellent. It really is a fun bike to ride and you can be sure it'll start every time and not leave you stranded. This is a freshly built custom motorcycle that is very clean. With that said, there are a couple very minor scratches, but nothing major. There is also a hairline crack on the left side sprocket cover as you can see in one of the photos. It is not very noticeable and does not affect anything at all. It's just a cover over the front sprocket area that does not have any oil in it. I have put a minimum of 40 miles on the bike since completion to ensure the bike is safe and reliable. The mileage may increase slightly from the time of listing as I may take the bike for a couple quick rides before it sells.
