BSA Victor Trail 250 description

This little BSA B25T Victor Trail is one for the collectors, or someone who wants to go trail riding without the noise and tall seats of modern bikes. It is also really rare as BSA made this model one year only, 1971, which means it is legal for AHRMA competition. As a collectible, you can ride it for fun as well as have an investment. It looks like the only one for sale in the country at this time. The chassis is the same as the 441 Victor, but has the 250 engine. The 441 or 500 (probably) engine will bolt right in if you have one. It has been stored in a dry garage for the last 40 years. It has only 4970 miles on the odometer, but the speedo drive is toast, so it's probably a little more. VIN is AE03937B25T.  Don't know much about the history except that my friend took it as part payment for back rent back in 1976 and I bought it along with some big bikes when my friend sold me his collection.  It's been in dry indoor storage since 1976.

I put a new set of rings in it, cleaned/adjusted the valves, added a battery, changed the oil in the engine/tranny, set the timing, and it started on the third kick. It runs great with excellent torque and effortless shifting. It has the original tires which are in pretty good shape --- at least 70% remaining still.  The aluminum gas tank is in excellent condition without a dent and the seat is as supple as new without a scratch. This little BSA will get close to 100 mpg and is freeway legal, so you can use it as an economical commuter, then ride to Alice's for breakfast and never see another one. It has a clear CA title, but has not been registered for decades, which means it is not on the DMV database.

Key words would be Starfire, Triumph cub, velocette, Norton, vintage, lightning, bantam, star, gold star, scrambler, b50t, b50mx, c15, b15 c40, spitfire, enduro, trials, barracuda, wasp, etc.

What’s Old Is New Again – Video

Mon, 14 Oct 2013

There’s something distinctly cool about old British motorcycles. From the wire wheels, the minimal bodywork, and the exposed engines which give off a thunderous bark, I’ve always loved looking at old Triumphs, BSAs and the like from the 60s.  I’ve never owned one though. The reason is simple: old British bikes are needy little maintenance machines notorious for the odd oil leak.
