BSA Thunderbolt description

Offered is a nice 1966 BSA Thunderbolt, single carb. 650cc motorcycle.  This bike is unrestored and does show some wear and tear from it's 50 years of service.  I purchased this bike nearly 10 years ago, registered it and rode it around for a while.  It blew a head gasket and I put it in my shop where it promptly got buried and forgotten.  Well....bills are due and it needs to find a new home.  I pulled it out, surfaced the head, replaced the gasket, put in a new battery and cleaned the carb.  It runs good and starts on the first kick.  I started having fun with it again but now more bills are due and the wife is looking at me crooked. So here we are.......

Like I said this bike in unrestored and is not perfect by any means.  This is a bike that has been ridden and worked on and kept on the road for 50 years.  Parts have been replaced as needed, sometimes with incorrect parts. I do know that the back wheel is for a later model for example.  The carb has been exchanged for a newer concentric type.  The bike has a great look and is a blast to ride.  It is titled in my name and is currently non-op'd.  It is a numbers matching bike.  There are NO back fees or headaches at the DMV. The bike does smoke a bit and the brake shoes could be replaced. I do have a brand new cover for the seat.

I am asking for a $500 non-refundable deposit via PayPal upon closing of the auction.  Local buyers must pay balance in cash at pick up.  Non local buyers must pay balance via wire transfer.  Any arrangements for shipment of the motorcycle must be made by the buyer and at the buyers expense.  I can assist with shipping on my end.  I can arrange for delivery to a shipper (there may be a small fee for this).  This motorcycle is for sale locally and I do reserve the right to end the auction early. Please do not hesitate to ask questions.  The bike is available for inspection here in Long Beach, Calif.

 Thanks for looking

2014 LA Calendar Motorcycle Show Concourse d’ Elegance Report

Wed, 06 Aug 2014

The 2014 edition of the LA Calendar Motorcycle Show continued its now 23-year tradition as the premier outdoor streetbike event in America with producer photographer Jim Gianatsis moving the show this year to the beautiful green lawns of the Malibu Golf Course among the twisty canyon roads in the Santa Monica Mountains alongside the Pacific Ocean. Highlighting this year’s exciting activities was the emergence of another new and soon to be renown custom bike builder to the sport for which the Calendar Show is known for cultivating. Taking Best of Show in this year’s Calendar Bike Building Championship was Calin Senciac’s Imagine Vehicles International / ImagineVehicles.com motorsports fabrication shop with an incredible custom billet aluminum designed chassis built by Terry Ward and the shop crew, housing a legendary 1979 Honda CBX 1047cc air-cooled in-line 6-cylinder engine.

The Steve McQueen Desert Racer

Tue, 24 Mar 2009

There are few motorcycle icons within pop culture that have endured as vividly as that of the late, great Steve McQueen. A man who was at one time the highest paid actor in Hollywood, he avoided the limelight in favor of immersing himself within his passion for motorcycles. Never afraid of getting dirty, McQueen was at his happiest flogging a bike around the track with fellow racers or tinkering with the machines himself.
