BSA A-65 Lightning description
1970 BSA A-65 Lightning
numbers matching, good clean title in my name. Starts easy, first or second kick. Runs, brakes and shifts as it should. Last year for the oil tank bikes before BSA and Triumph switched to the OIF design. New Avon tires and tubes front and rear on original chrome rims in excellent condition. New replica Girling style rear shocks. Brakes just inspected with plenty of life left in the shoes. All new wiring thru out entire bike. New ignition switch, Podtronics box, Pazon electronic ignition , new Lithium ion battery and dual output coil. Speedo only- but works well. New headlight trim ring and Lucas 3 way switch up front, nice chrome and glass replica 1950 pontiac tail light out back mounted in a "Glass from the Past" cafe racer seat/tail section. Oil tank is custom made and holds 3 quarts easy with battery box. The oil tank decals are custom, inspired by BSA hornet decals. There are some tabs cut off the frame to accommodate the oil tank. A stock tank could be put back on but it would require some welding. I have a good stock oil tank but no side covers. Fresh engine, primary and gear oil change. All new oil lines. Brand new replica gas tank with new chrome trim and original cap and badges. (badges could stand a repaint but look decent for original). Brand new Amal 930 premier carb with velocity stack, new filters and all new clear braided fuel lines. Rebuilt BSA petcocks. I have a rebuilt Thunderbolt single carb head on the bike now but I have the original dual carb lightning head that goes with the bike, it has also been rebuilt so would be an easy swap back to dual carbs if that's your preference. oversized aluminum header fins, new upswept reverse cone mufflers. (could use new headers but they are not bad just a little discolored) Clubman bars with New alloy levers, new GP grips. I have a new in box choke lever assembly and cable but I never needed to choke the bike so I never installed it. I'm sure I'm missing things but all in all the bike is well maintained and ready to ride. I've owned it about 10 years, rode it than stored it than restored it. Most of the parts have been added within the last year. You will need a license plate bracket. I planned on mounting a low axle mount one. (ebay 15-30 bucks) There are no mirrors or turn signals. If this deters you from buying this bike than you probably should not own it anyway. There is no seat belt either...lol The bike is also for sale locally, I reserve the right to end this auction if bike sells locally. I am selling this bike because I have small children and I wish to share my hobby with my family, so I'm going back to classic cars for a while. I do not need to sell it, however the reserve is very fair I'm not expecting Barrett Jackson prices here. Sorry, but please do not bid on this bike if your not an experienced rider. This is a classic motorcycle and although a great rider this is not a good commuter or first time motorcycle. Right hand shift, drum brakes....probably not the best to learn with on our modern streets. I will not ship the bike but to you but I will make myself available if you would like to have a shipping company pick it up as long as I have reasonable notice. I would be happy to answer any questions or provide additional photos. thanks Terry four one zero 9 one 3 four three 8 seven |
