BMW R-Series description

Hi!  My name is Jay and I have a 100% rating on EBAY as buyer / seller.  I want to do business with the same type of buyer.  This motorcycle listing is as accurate and detailed as can be to provide YOU with ALL the DETAILS you need to make an informed and responsible decision.  I hope this motorcycle finds an excellent home and buyer and I hope it gives you as much JOY and Happy memories as it has given me!

For Sale is MY personal motorcycle....a 2003 BMW R 1150 RT Sport Touring motorcycle with ABS, power adjustable windshield, heated grips, 6 speed transmission.  Paint job is Avis Black.  Black leather seat with low boy comfortable BMW saddle w/ passenger saddle.  Fully gassed with Premium gas 6 gallon tank costs about $15 to $18 (July 2016) and fully wet it weighs about 700 pounds without a rider.  I get just over 200 miles on a full tank so mileage is around 38 to 40 mpg combined city / highway.  This is a 2 owner bike.  I am the second owner.  I purchased this bike from BOB'S BMW in Jessup, Maryland in 2012.  This motorcycle was a trade in from the original owner who traded up.  BOB'S did a complete tune-up and overhaul of the bike as is their policy when reselling a trade in bike.  The bike has spent 80% of it's time garage kept, 10% of it's time under a motorcycle cover outdoors and 10% uncovered outdoors.  During my ownership I have replaced front and rear tires twice each, replaced both throttle bodies with NEW genuine BMW parts (3 years ago) and the internal belt.  I have had the gel battery replaced 1 year ago.   I have had aftermarket PIAA high intensity LED lights installed on the front forks & on / off switch installed below gauges.  I have had additional LED brake lights installed on either side of the license plate and the brake lights flash quickly then slowly when activated.  I have had reflective strips installed on the side cases and top case to increase visibility from the rear.  The bike comes with MATCHING full-size BMW black top case and both left and right side cases.  All are in working -- very good condition with minor scuffs.  The bike has tipped over once when the kickstand failed and broke off.  I caught it as it tipped.  I have engine guards on both left and right engine and these guards have perfectly protected the magnesium engine cylinders.  BOB'S BMW replaced the entire kickstand with a new assembly and it's never had a problem since.  The external air temperature thermometer stopped working...located between the handlebars.  The adjustable BMW acrylic windshield has some clouding.  The motor works perfect to raise / lower it.  The bike has a few small nicks / scratches / scuffs--see photos.

I have had an aftermarket JVC head unit with included remote installed in the secondary battery compartment and PIONEER speakers installed in the fairing to replace the oem bmw speakers.  The original packaging box for JVC unit and PIONEER speakers are included with bike.  The JVC digital AM/FM unit has bluetooth capability and an auxiliary port.  I have an aux cable (INCLUDED) running from the aux jack to the handle bars with an INCLUDED APPLE IPOD SHUFFLE ($49) silver (with USB adapter for recharge) to allow MP3 play.  I have installed aftermarket J-Hawkes highway peg kit ($99).  I have moved the passenger footpegs forward to the J-Hawkes highway extension bars so the rider can stretch out on long trips.  The passenger pegs can be relocated back to the regular position within 5-10 minutes.  I am INCLUDING a BMW battery trickle charger ($69).  ALL service records during my ownership are INCLUDED and ALL work was done at BOB'S.  They also have the computerized records from the original owner's scheduled service.  I have taken the bike in for it's 2015 annual service...oil change, replace rear tire, tighten up cables, etc...   The bike also comes with it's original owners manual, original tool kit, extra hex wrench, aftermarket oil funnel, hand sanitizer and bungee cords.  I can also include a taxi-cab yellow SHOEI modular used helmet (4 yrs old), a SCORPION hi-viz yellow modular helmet (1 year old).  Both XXL size.  I include a 2XL TOURMASTER (about 1 year old)  hi-viz yellow 3/4 length textile armored jacket ($199) with zip-in insulated liner for warmth or zip-out for breathability.  Jacket has about 8 zip / velcro air vents and 3 to 4 pockets.  Jacket has BMW MOA patch sewn on back between shoulder blades.  Several extra keys both full size and mini keys are included and also BOB'S BMW key tag...often called the $20,000 key tag.  These types of BMW bikes if well cared for are known to last up to 200,000 miles.  This one is a super clean gem.  At 13 years old it is cleaner and smoother than bikes half it's age.  BMW owners take PREMIUM care of their bikes!  The bike has NEVER been in an accident in my care and always responsibly ridden.  I took Rider's Edge course through Harley Davidson and this is my 2nd bike.  I am also including a black expandable tank bag which attaches with 2 clips on top and zipper on bottom. I can also include motorcycle cover if you want it--good condition.  Can also include comfortable armored motorcycle gloves used black 2XL size if you want them.

The bike is sold AS-IS.  When I purchased the bike I also purchased a 3 year extended warranty on the bike and a 3 year extended wheel and tire insurance policy both through BOB's.  These warranties and policies have both expired.

A $500 dollar deposit is due through Paypal immediately upon winning bid or auction.  Complete payment is due in cash or cashiers check / bank check to me upon local pick up in person within 7 days of auction close.  If you need longer you MUST contact me to make arrangements.   All keys and records will be handed over after full payment is made.  I can give recommendations for transportation or lodging if traveling here from out of town to pick up bike.

I reserve the right to end the auction early as I am also offering for sale locally and on Craigslist and will sell to first buyer who meets the sale price.

I have a CLEAR TITLE and have owned the bike for 4 awesome years and have ridden up and down the East Coast of USA.  As I am getting older and will be moving from current home I need to sell.   LOCAL pick up ONLY.  IF shipping, YOU will arrange ALL shipping details and pay costs.  NO test rides.  If you want to test ride I suggest you go to BOB's and ask to test ride a RT model to get the feel for the bike.  BOB's has a very generous test ride policy.  BOB's is a TOP rated sales and service BMW BEEMER motorcycle facility.  The Maryland State Troopers exclusively bring their Police BMW R1200 RTP bikes to BOB's for service.
