BMW R-Series description

1958 BMW R60, VIN# 619224, Matching Numbers, 11315 Miles, Clear California Title.
1969 MZ Super-Elastik sidecar, VIN 13358, MZ (Motorradwerk Zschopau).

1958 BMW R60
I'm the third owner of this 1958 BMW R60 and it's been in my collection for years. When I purchased it, it had a Ural sidecar on it, I put the MZ sidecar on it about a year ago. The bike has always started on the first or second kick.  It's been started monthly and taken out for a two-three mile ride each time.  I have run it without a battery,  and the magneto has always held it's charge.

I was told the mileage was correct when I purchased it.  The speedometer has always worked and I believe the mileage is correct. The bike is complete and original, and is in very good condition.

1969 MZ Sidecar
MZ (Motorradwerk Zschopau) sidecars are a quality made Aluminum sidecar made in Germany.  This one is in very good condition with minor scratches but no dents. It's frame design and light weight aluminum body pairs up well on the old BMW's. It has a battery tray mount to hold a larger battery and a drum brake system. The brake system will need to be flushed and cleaned to get it working. All sidecar attachments are installed and included. The top sidecar mounting bolt works, but is not the correct bolt.

This is a no reserve auction so please look at all the pictures and ask any questions before you bid. The bike is available for showing by appointment before the auction ends.

Buyer is responsible for all shipping arrangements and costs. The bike is sold as-is with no warranty offered or implied. A $500 non refundable PayPal deposit is due within 48 hours from the end of the auction and full payment is due within 7 days from the end of the auction.

Wed, 25 Sep 2013

The German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) has announced the winner of its 2013 Design Awards, which asked students from across the world to submit their final graduating projects completed between October 2011 and July 2013. Eric Leong from Sweden's Umeå Institute of Design, came in first place with his 'Audi Elite' project, earning himself €4,000. Leong's single-person vehicle can be controlled using the entire body through gestures and movements, and adapts to the needs of the driver, giving them more control.

Latest on my S1000RR

Mon, 04 Oct 2010

Not sure what's going on with the sound in this vid, but it calms down after a minute - sorry! As my long term BMW S1000RR does most of its miles working hard on track days, I felt an early 6000 mile service might be a good idea. A quick phone call to my local dealer (the friendly and efficient Pidcocks) saw my bike in the workshop the following week and back in my hands by lunchtime.

European Parliament Makes ABS Mandatory, Tighten Emissions Standards by 2016

Wed, 21 Nov 2012

The European Parliament voted overwhelmingly in favor of new rules that would increase emission standards and make anti-lock braking systems mandatory for all new large motorcycles, scooters and trikes and quads by 2016. The new regulations, which would still need approval from European Union member states, may only directly affect Europe, but they will have a wide-reaching affect on manufacturers’ product development for other markets. BMW, for example, has already made ABS standard for all its motorcycles for 2013.
