BMW R-Series description

R100R Classic.  Black with white pinstriping; spoke wheels; fork gaiters, Corbin leather saddle with back rest, rear luggage rack - all in very good condition.  Saddle bags in good, original condition.  Body and paint in very good condition.  No dents or dings.  No oil or fluid leaks.  No drive train noise or vibrations, rides smooth.  Engine runs strong, transmission and clutch shift easily. Slight front brake chatter.  Gas cap doesn't lock.  Two sets of keys.  Kept in a garage.  Has clear title.

  • Starter motor replaced by previous owner;
  • Spline lubricated and new bolts installed by previous owner @ about 36,000 miles;
  • Replaced the fork oil this summer at 38,000 miles;
  • Replaced transmission and rear end gear oil @ 38,000 miles;
  • Tuned the carbs and cleaned the air filter this summer;
  • Set the timing; adjusted the valves and replaced the spark plugs @ 38,000 miles;
  • Adjusted the steering head bearing this summer;
  • Renewed the engine oil (Pennzoil 20 - 50 Dino) at 39,000 miles.  Oil and filter last replaced @ 37,500 miles;
  • Installed new Bridgestone BT 45 tires - front and back - @ 37,500 miles;
  • Has full original tool kit; and tire repair kit;
  • Has BMW battery charger;
  • Has BMW exhaust nut wrench;
  • Has owner's manual (several pages are loose);
  • Has Bing Carburetor manual.
  • Has small Wunderlich day bag - fits on rear rack;

The third instalment of the Indian action blockbuster Dhoom became the highest grossing Indian film of all time. More interesting than that are the laughable bike scenes, with Dhoom 3 featuring one chase scene between a K1300R and a S1000RR. In the first Dhoom film a Hayubasu magically transformed into 125cc bike for a train jump.

KTM introduced its prototype electric motorcycle earlier this week, and electric bike manufacturer Zero Motorcycles almost immediately responded by opening sales on its 2009 Zero X dirt bike (look for our review of the 2008 model next week!). But these two companies aren’t the only ones exploring the possibilities of electric-powered motorcycles. In September, Japan’s largest industrial information journal Nikkei Business Daily reported that both Honda and Yamaha have set target dates for launching their own electric-powered motorcycles.
