EICMA 2008: First Impressions

I have had a little walk around checking out the preparations for the show. I haven’t seen anything that I haven’t already seen or heard about previously, but here’s a selection from three of the halls. Yamaha are the only manufacturer to use an industrial crane to place some of its bikes up on high rise stands.

Celebrity Jurors Named for BMW R1200GS Contest

BMW announced its four-member celebrity jury panel for its globe-spanning “Ride of Your Life” R1200GS adventure contest. The panel is comprised of Academy-Award winner Adrien Brody, Paris-Dakar Rally winner Jutta Kleinschmidt, actor Rick Yune and noted motorcycle adventurer Charley Boorman. The panel will select five winners for the “Ride of Your Life” contest (also known as the “One World, One GS” contest) to promote the new 2013 BMW R1200GS.

2013 BMW HP4 Pricing Released

A few weeks ago we tested BMW’s scintillating new HP4 version of the S1000RR, and we were blown away by the incredible competency of this class-leading superbike for the street, including its new semi-active Dynamic Damping Control suspension. What we didn’t know then was how princely a sum BMW would demand in its MSRP, but now we know. Initially, BMW announced U.S.
